Mar. 28th: Brockton Poetry Series featuring Kimo Hill

On Tuesday, March 28th, Brockton Poetry Series welcomes Kimo Hill!

Hakim ‘Kimo’ Hill is the Co-Executive Director of HipStory Films. Hakim Hill earned his Master’s Degree in Counseling at the University of Bridgeport. Currently, he works as an Area Coordinator at Salem State University. Outside of student affairs, Hakim wrote, produced, and directed a short film titled “The Art of Being Haunted” & co-directed “Vitiligo,” both about mental health in the Black community and the importance of therapy, which is currently entering the film festival circuit. His book of poems Cinematic Mind: The Eternal Search is available on Amazon.

Brockton Poetry Series featuring Evander Wilson

On Tuesday, February 28th, Brockton Poetry Series welcomes Evander Wilson!

Evander Wilson is a teaching artist from Providence, Rhode Island. They represented the Providence Poetry Slam at the 2015 Brave New Voices International Poetry Slam and Festival, and was a coach for the 2016 and 2017 teams. Their work explores their experiences with gender, sexuality, religion, and mental illness. They have been been a featured poet, given lectures, and facilitated workshops and discussions at universities, slam venues, high schools, and community organizations around New England. When Evander isn’t writing, teaching, or performing, you can find them sipping on a cup of black coffee, or gazing dreamily at a bowl of mac and cheese.
